Safari Ostrich Show Farm, established in 1956, welcomes you to the Klein Karoo, the world’s foremost supplier of ostrich related products on the international market.
On arrival, you will meet one of our professional guides, who will take you on an unforgettable tour, where you will learn more about these remarkable birds and their fascinating nature. Our knowledgeable guides will lead you through all aspects of ostrich farming at Safari where you will be able to see many of these unique and ancient birds. The tour also includes a visit to one of the breeding camps where a great photo opportunity presents itself when visitors are allowed to stand on an ostrich egg!
In the beginning of the industry more than a 100 years ago, ostriches were farmed exclusively for their feathers. Unique to Safari Ostrich Farm is the Welgeluk Homestead, also called a “Feather Palace”. Today a National Monument, it serves as a reminder of the riches once associated with the “feather boom”.
For the adventurous there is an opportunity to sit on one of these extraordinary birds! Tours end with an exciting ostrich race with local jockeys.
Safari Ostrich Show Farm is the first show farm in South Africa where the Kenyan Red and Zimbabwe Blue ostriches as well as the local South African breed can be viewed.
The gift shop at Safari Ostrich Show Farm has one of the largest ranges of Ostrich Leather goods and accessories. In addition we have a vast range of ostrich eggs, useful and colourful feather products as well as a wide variety of other gift items.
